Fast forward to 2011 and being contacted again by Pauch and William that they were expecting, our hearts jumped out and we couldn’t wait to meet Zuri their newborn daughter. Zuri was still awake when we got there, but thanks to 2 space heaters, white noise and lullabies on Pandora, she eventually went to sleepyland where we got some spectacular newborn poses.

Congratulations to Pauch and William on your new edition to the family!

The weather and sun light was amazing.  We had a lot of fun and had some great captures! This was our first pet session and it certainly will not be our last! Thanks so much for spending time with us Austin! We hope you enjoy these pictures with your family and friends!

P.S. – Clothes are great when you have an assistant.  Be nature, be yourself.

In this installment, we will be discussing about general questions clients have before a Maternity photoshoot.

Question: What clothing should I bring to my photoshoot?

• As a general rule, wear what you love and are comfortable in!
• Solid colors like white, brown, grey, black are great. Subtle colors like blue and pink may work, but avoid anything LOUD like bright yellow or pink. Strips, plaids, logos show time in a photo. We want the photo to reflect simplicity, and not some fad.
• Neckline clothes with squarenecks, some v-necks and deep scoop necks work well. Leave the crewnecks for your husband.
• Sleeves add character and enhance the curves. Sleeveless or spaghetti straps also work. Avoid t-shirt length sleeves unless you have beautiful upper arms.
• Clothing fabric should allow a little breathing room, nothing too tight.
• Shirts – big, white, button-down rumpled man’s shirt. A shirt or cardigan that opens down the front works well too.
• Tank tops – Yes. Fitted, clingy or stretchy in solid colors (see above) work well. Please no yellow tanktops with designs or logos.
• Pants – Simple jeans works. Black yoga, Platte stretchy pants works.

Question: How about my husband?

• Bring some jeans or khaki pants. Dark pants work too.
• Also bring some black and white crew-neck t-shirts.
• Solid colors again are great. Black, navy blue, charcoal, grey.

Question: What else should I bring to my photoshoot?

• Bring something meaningful: Stuffed animals, building blocks, toys, etc.

Question: Any beauty tips I should consider?

• We suggest to get a manicure and pedicure a day or two before the shoot.
• Makeup is great, but keep it simple and light.
• Wear your wedding ring and anything else that you want significant in the photo.

P.S. Don’t forget to tell your photographer to take their time. We allow ample time for our session to get the best possible shot. Nothing irks us more than having a set timelimit for a photoshoot.

Before the ceremony, Lelan met Jessica and her bridesmaids at the nearby Marriott hotel where there was some serious makeup preparation going on. On the other hand, Wilson met Mario at his home where he was greeted by his wonderful family. Around the house was a host of vintage pictures of Jessica and Mario, including some during their high school prom days! Mario’s mom was so proud of his son getting married that she took out some pictures so we can photograph them.

With the help of their family and friends, the ceremony went off without a hitch. Jessica and Mario exchanged their vows outdoors with the green hills in the background. The rain even decided to hold off until we were officially done with the ceremony outdoors. Just think how awesome that is having the weather wait for you!?!

Once we went indoors, the reception was touching as one of Jessica’s brother was unable to be there as he was overseas for duty. However, they were able to get the Internet working and was able to Skype Video Chat his brother all the way in Japan. How awesome is that?! Everyone had a great time dancing celebrating with Jessica and Mario and dancing the night away!

And we are lucky enough to be documenting their love story!

It’s a classic love story: Jessica and Mario are high school sweethearts and both were born and raised in San Jose. This was their first time at Golden Gate Park and they took our recommendation for choosing the location so we could capture their strong interest in landscape and the bold architecture of buildings. As we made our way from the De Young Museum to Stow Lake and back, we were greeted with various wild-life creatures, cascading waterfall, majestic pavilion, blooming flowers, and the clear blue sky. Making a few detours along the way, we found a goose with her ducklings who was happy to strike a couple of pose as we shot away.

Jessica and Mario were up for everything we asked them to do. From laying on a bed of grass to the extreme such as climbing onto rocks and jumping onto rocks in between a lake just to get to a certain nice spot. Jessica and Mario had a great chemistry with each other as their passion for one another can be seen in their smiles and expression throughout the shoot.

Jessica and Mario, we want to shout out a “Thank You!” to you two. We had a splendid time photographing the two of you and we hope that the two will revisit the Park and San Francisco again. Don’t forget to check out all the venues like the California Academy of Science and the Japanese Tea Garden. The two of you are amazing and fun to work with – we had an awesome time! We cannot wait to capture your wedding next month!!

First off, they revamp the garden area between the De Young Museum and California Academy of Science with three beautiful water fountains. Jessica noticed the mother ducklings across from Stow Lake.

P.S. San Francisco has the best Mango ice cream around at Mitchell’s. Screaming for an ice cream or an Icee would be perfect this sunny day!

We recently traveled to Beijing and Shanghai in China for a 10 day vacation during the Thanksgiving break.

China is beautiful, rich in tradition and customs.   In the last two decades, the country have become more democratic and opened up to Western culture.

It was our first time visit to both of these cities. Even though our stay was short, we have some beautiful memories to share with everyone. Enjoy!

Inside the Forbidden City, the moat inside the city has 5 bridges for people to travel over.

This was the view inside a temple. Mind you, this was all handmade and hand drawn work .

We headed to the Summer Palace, a place where the emporor and empress would spend the summer at. These boats were nonoperational this season, but made for a great symmetric shot.

This building housed a 4 star restaurant, but we never had the chance to go there.

Next stop was the Great Wall of China. Here you’ll see the top of one of the towers. Notice the snake of people on the right most and left most side of the wall. (that’s where the guard rails are hehe). The steps were steep and worse of all, uneven.

We caught a break inside the top tower to do this shot. All natural light.

At DaDong, this master chef was cutting a Peking Duck with a butter knife. The skin was crispy and the meat was soft and succulent. So good!

At FangBang ZhongLu, a tourists’ favorite beverage can be found mix in with old school Chinese heritage.

We waited about 30 minutes for this delicious Shanghai Dumplings. They were that good and nothing in America could compare to them.

A pond filled a bounty full of koi fishes.

Though our visit was short and sweet, we will tour China again. Who knows, in another 10 years, the place that we thought we knew would have changed.
